Processing a Tragedy: Supportive Mental Health Conversations for Parents
The U.S. Center for Mental Health & Sport (USC-MHS) is offering a small-group virtual opportunity for parents to talk about the recent tragic loss of one of the community's soccer players to suicide.
While this is not a therapy session, it is an opportunity to connect with others from the community to reflect and heal together. It is a chance to share the emotions we may be feeling and express the concerns we may have about how we help each other and the peer athletes of the departed individual to process this loss.
This is intended to be a safe space where parents from the community can come together for respectful conversations about this difficult time. Therefore, the conversation is intended to be free flowing with participants able to bring up their concerns and thoughts throughout. The USC-MHS Licensed Master Social Worker, Emily Moeller, will also provide conversation starters and will guide these conversations.
This opportunity for parents will be held 3 times. Feel free to sign up for 1, 2, or all 3 sessions as your schedule allows. Each session is listed as a separate event on the USC-MHS events page and you should register for each separately.
The sessions will be held virtually on Zoom 7:00PM-8:00PM CST on the following days:
Tuesday, April 18th
Thursday, April 28th
Tuesday, May 2
