Supportive Mental Health Conversations for Parents

September 14, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm UTC-4

Learn about mental health, how it can affect your parenting role, and strategies to provide opportunities for optimum mental wellbeing.

Supportive Mental Health Conversations for Parents

The U.S. Center for Mental Health & Sport (USC-MHS) is the official mental health and wellness partner of USYS and is offering a virtual opportunity for parents. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This 4-week, 1-hour-per-week session is an opportunity for parents, with guidance from USC-MHS Licensed Social Worker Emily Moeller, to talk about how to best protect your own mental health and that of your children involved in soccer.

The purpose of the session is to create a comfortable space for parents to learn more about mental health, how it can affect your role of parenting an athlete, and strategies to provide opportunities for yourselves and your children to experience optimum mental wellbeing. Participating parents will be encouraged to share experiences and contribute to conversations as the group seeks solutions to common challenges related to mental health.

Our series will be held virtually 12:00PM-1:00PM PDT on the following Wednesdays: September 14th, 21st, 28th and October 5. Program cost is $25.

"I say put mental health first."

EVERYONE has mental health. We should never be ashamed to START THE CONVERSATION. Let's end the STIGMA in sport environments. At the U.S. Center for Mental Health & Sport, we are continually looking for more ways to support individuals' mental health regardless of where they currently fall on the mental health continuum. MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!
