SUMMARY:PRIVATE EVENT: Accelerate Mental Health - Beyond Sport\, Nov 12\, 12-2PM ET
DESCRIPTION:Identify the strengths and areas for improvement for promoting positive mental health that are unique to your sport organization and/or team\n\n\nAccelerate Mental Health Workshop:\n \nThe Accelerate Mental Health Workshop is a continuation of the learning from the ACT! Mental Health Awareness Certification. While ACT! focused primarily on your knowledge and skills to support mental health as an individual within your athletic community\, Accelerate provides an opportunity to bring about faster change by beginning or continuing the development of action plans and policies that support mental health on teams and throughout the organization. Determining how to best serve mental health needs cannot be based on a one-size-fits-all model across all organizations. This workshop helps identify unique risk and protective factors present within your organization and/or team that provide pathways to and barriers from members of your community being able to experience thriving mental health. You will then be able to use this information to take steps to align mental health policies with a validated model for mentally healthy sport environments.

Certification to bring about faster change in supporting mental health in intercollegiate sport communities. Determining how to best serve mental health needs at an institution or on a team cannot be based on a one-size-fits-all model. This workshop helps identify unique risk and protective factors present within your institution and/or team that provide barriers from and pathways to members of your community being able to experience thriving mental health. You will then be able to use this information to take steps to align mental health policies with the NCAA Mental Health Best Practices along with a validated model for mentally healthy sport environments. The workshop will provide valuable insight into the needs for mental health support within your institution's athletic community with opportunities to continue to develop action plans around those needs. \n \nAthletics administrators\, staff\, and coaches from WCC institutions are welcome to attend this interactive and engaging webinar by the U.S. Center for Mental Health & Sport. \n \nWe look forward to seeing you there!

SUMMARY:PRIVATE EVENT - ACT! to Support Athlete Mental Health: FREE Webinar by WCC
DESCRIPTION:Learn factors in sport that protect athletes from and put them at greater risk for experiencing mental health challenges and how to support.\n\n\nJoin us for the U.S. Center for Mental Health & Sport's ACT! Mental Health Awareness Certification. The objectives of the USC-MHS ACT! Certification are much like those of a first aid course. We will teach participants the signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge and/or crisis\, how to de-escalate a situation to avoid harm to oneself or others\, and what pathways are available for additional professional support. The course also focuses on those factors about intercollegiate sport participation that can protect individuals from experiencing mental health challenges and those factors that can put them at greater risk. Our training always includes national and local community resources that can be utilized for additional mental health support. \nThe course agenda is based on the acronym ACT!\, encouraging anyone who is concerned about their own mental health or that of someone else to act in support. First\, we will grow AWARENESS of the importance of mental health in sport along with the prevalence of challenges\, next we will provide information on signs and symptoms to be aware of regarding the most common mental health CHALLENGES experienced in intercollegiate athletics (depression\, anxiety\, and suicidality)\, and finally\, options will be provided on how to TAKE ACTION if you are concerned about yourself or someone else\, including any WCC athlete. \nAthletics administrators\, staff\, and coaches from WCC institutions are welcome to attend. \nWe look forward to seeing you there!
